Samraant Virmani is a unique entrepreneur. Hailing from a multi-generation business family, Samraant chose to ‘create’ his own path, with innovation and empathy. Displaying prodigious business acumen, he tasted success early with multiple ventures. This success, rather than instill an aggressive business approach, made him realise the importance of breaking conditioning to truly develop a creative mind and economy.
Invested in the idea of nurturing the young people of a young India into able and empathetic decision makers, Samraant felt that early exposure to art and creativity is a must. To enable this, he left no stone unturned. Whether it was nourishing reading culture in Uttrakhand or starting the Dehradun Literature Festival (DDLF) – Samraant did it all. In an AI and media influenced world, compassion, love and joy can only be nurtured via a pause where art and emotions are experienced. For 8 years, this pause is being mediated by DDLF.
Treading a step further, Samraant directed the International Yog Festival to address the human spiritual core. Several other concepts around music, poetry, theatre and education came to fruition under his leadership.
Aside from promoting arts, Samraant also invests in artists. He has enabled an ecosystem, with sound infrastructure and consultative expertise, where many artists have found belonging. He has co-established a studio and a music label (UK Stage), for upcoming musical talents, helped authors get published and also produced films.
In short, Samraant is an enabler for thriving artistic and entrepreneurial ecosystems in his city and state, successfully so.
