38-Year-Old Djokovic Just Three Wins Away from 25th Major Title

At the season’s final tennis Grand Slam, the US Open, Novak Djokovic achieved yet another historic milestone. The 38-year-old Serbian star defeated Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 in the fourth round, securing a record 64th Grand Slam quarterfinal appearance. With this, he became the most consistent player in history to have reached the quarterfinals of all four Grand Slams in a single season. Now, he stands only three victories away from his 25th Major title.

At Arthur Ashe Stadium, seventh seed Djokovic dominated right from the opening game and broke Struff’s serve six times in a match that lasted just 109 minutes.

In another match, Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz defeated France’s Arthur Rinderknech in straight sets 7-6, 6-3, 6-4 to seal his quarterfinal spot.

Defending Champion Aryna Sabalenka Reaches Quarterfinals for 5th Straight Year

Defending champion Aryna Sabalenka booked her place in the quarterfinals once again. The top seed overcame Spain’s Cristina Bucsa 6-1, 6-4. With this victory, Sabalenka entered the US Open quarterfinals for the fifth consecutive year. She extended her winning streak to 11 matches at the event. This also marks the 14th Grand Slam quarterfinal of her career. She has now recorded her 54th win of the season.

India’s 16-Year-Old Maaya Advances to Second Round in Juniors

In the US Open Junior Tennis, India’s 16-year-old Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi reached the second round. Hailing from Coimbatore, Maya trains at the Rafael Nadal Academy in Spain.

In the opening round, Maya defeated China’s Jiang-Qian Wei 7-6, 6-3. In the next round, she will face second seed Enhua Claramunt of Britain.
