Kabir: The Weaver of Wisdom and Unity

Imagine a wandering poet in 15th-century India, reciting verses that touched both kings and commoners alike. That was Kabir Das, a weaver who spun not just threads, but wove verses that echoed through centuries.
His dohas, two-line verses, weren’t just poetry — they were life lessons, spoken in everyday language, cutting across religious and social divides. Even today, his razor-sharp wisdom resonates — whether you’re questioning life’s purpose or simply trying to be better.

Kabir’s dohas express his vision and love for all religions. It’s impossible to label him as Brahmin, Sufi, Vedantist, or Vaishnavite. As he said, “at once a child of Allah and of Ram.” His fearless critique of both Hinduism and Islam, and his rejection of empty rituals, placed him among the most powerful voices of syncretic spirituality in India.

Kabir wrote in vernacular Hindi — Awadhi, Braj, and Bhojpuri — not in Sanskrit or Persian.

— Where are you seeking Me? I am beside you. I am neither in temple nor mosque, neither in Kaba nor Kailash; not in rites, ceremonies, or renunciation.

— When guru and God stand before you, to whom do you bow? I bow to the guru who showed me the path to God.

The lane of love is extremely narrow; two cannot walk through it together.
When ‘I’ (the ego) was present, God was not. Now that God is present, the ego is gone.
