On this International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Usha Mani, proudly joins forces to raise awareness and combat the widespread issue of gender-based violence. She has extended her support to those dedicated to this cause, recognizing the remarkable individuals who are tirelessly working to safeguard women, promote gender equality, and eliminate violence globally. Managed by UN Women, the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, under the UNiTE initiative, highlights the alarming rise in violence against women, with this year’s theme: “Every 10 Minutes, a woman is killed. #NoExcuse. UNiTE to End Violence Against Women.”

Ending Violence Through Awareness & Action

She says “On this International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Usha Mani calls for a collective awakening. Violence against women is not only an individual tragedy but a societal failure that demands urgent and sustained action. We are at a critical juncture where silence is no longer an option. For too long, the cries of injustice have been ignored. Ask yourself: Is your daughter safe? If not, what steps are we taking to change this reality?”

She further adds “This is not about marches or slogans—it’s about decisive action. Teach your sons to value womanhood and empower daughters with the tools to protect themselves. True freedom comes from self-respect, enhanced self-image, and reclaimed dignity. Women are neither puppets nor slaves. It’s time to rise, act, and secure safety and equality for all”

Awarded the Mahatma Gandhi Leadership Award, Usha Mani, founder of ParenTeen Bond, has spent 40+ years fostering stronger parent-teen connections and inspiring global change through her impactful workshops and book It’s Now or Never.
