“Hayagreeva: The Guru of Goddess Saraswati” by Saraswati Raman – A Global Exploration of Divine Wisdom

by | Aug 23, 2024 | 50 Critically Acclaimed Authors

This is the story of Shri Hayagreeva who was the incarnation of Shri Mahavishnu. If there was someone who could be a teacher to Goddess Saraswati herself, it was Shri Hayagreeva.  He is worshipped as the god of knowledge and wisdom, with a human body and a horse’s head, brilliant white in color, with white garments and seated on a white lotus. Haya means horse and griva means neck. So the deity with a horse head from his neck is known as Hayagriva. It is believed that worship of Shri Hayagreeva can bestow upon the devotee the divine vision to know the events of the future. He taught the Vedas to Brahmadeva and Lalita Sahasranamam to Agastya Muni.
