On Day 14 of the Paris 2024 Olympics, India added another medal to its tally, thanks to a stellar performance by wrestler Aman Sehrawat. Competing in the Men’s 57kg freestyle wrestling category, Sehrawat delivered an impressive victory against Puerto Rico’s Darian Toi Cruz, securing the bronze medal with a 13-5 score. This achievement marked India’s sixth medal at the games and maintained the nation’s tradition of winning at least one wrestling medal since the 2008 Olympics.
Despite the positive result in wrestling, other Indian athletes faced challenges. The men’s and women’s 4x400m relay teams put up valiant efforts but fell short of qualifying for the finals. The men’s team finished 10th overall, while the women’s team ended up in 15th place. In golf, both Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar struggled in their third round of the women’s individual stroke play, slipping to T40 and T42 spots, respectively, diminishing hopes for a medal in the sport.
As the Olympics draw to a close, the focus shifts to the remaining events, with hopes that athletes like Neeraj Chopra in javelin and the Indian men’s hockey team can add to India’s medal count before the games conclude.
