Imagine possessing the ability to see death—a power that reveals how, where, and when people will die. Now, picture being just eight years old with such a gift. Should you use this power to intervene or let fate take its course? This is the central conflict in Ekaki – The Girl Who Saw Fate by Harssh Singh.

Set in 1932, the novel introduces us to Rewa, a fourteen-year-old girl living in a small village near Chittagong. Rewa, shunned by her community and burdened by her terrifying visions of death, lives in isolation with her family. When Peelo, a young and hopeful school teacher, arrives with a note, Rewa foresees Peelo’s death in a violent attack on the British Club, which will trigger a regional bloodbath and the onset of revolution.

With only seven days to act, Rewa faces a daunting choice: join the revolutionary army to protect Peelo, her father’s love, and countless innocents or let destiny unfold. Amidst the chaos, Rewa grapples with her own fears, emerging attraction to Peelo’s brother Ajoy, and a dangerous British spy. She must navigate a world where the line between life and death blurs and her enemies may be more than human.
