Xiaomi Rolls Out HyperOS 3: Android 16, Hyper Island, and Advanced AI Tools

by | Dec 17, 2025 | Technology & AI

Xiaomi has officially commenced the rollout of HyperOS 3.0, its latest operating system based on Android 16. Unveiled in September 2025, the update is now reaching a wide range of flagship and mid-range devices globally, including in India.

HyperOS 3.0 focuses on a “liquid glass” visual identity, deep AI integration, and a more unified ecosystem across Xiaomi phones, tablets, and smart home devices.

Key New Features in HyperOS 3.0

  • Hyper Island: Similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island, this feature displays pill-shaped notifications and live activities (like charging speed, calls, or music) around the front camera cutout.
  • HyperAI Integration: A new suite of agentic AI tools powered by large language models (LLMs).
    • AI Writing Tools: DeepThink mode for generating content and “Smart Screen Recognition” for instant captions.
    • AI Speed Recognition: Enhances audio quality, creates real-time transcripts, and summarizes recordings.
    • AI Cinematic Lock Screen: Transforms still images into dynamic wallpapers with depth effects and AI-generated styles (such as “Ghibli-fy” or “Dreamscape”).
  • Liquid Glass UI: A redesigned visual language featuring over 100 refined system animations, grouped notification alerts, and a more uniform home screen layout.
  • Enhanced Interconnectivity: A “Touch to Share” feature (similar to NameDrop) allows for seamless sharing of files and Wi-Fi passwords by touching devices. It also supports better cross-device collaboration with Apple products.
  • Privacy & Security: Includes “Quantum-level” post-quantum encryption and edge-to-cloud AI data security to keep personal information private.

Global and India Rollout Schedule

The rollout is happening in phases. While the latest Xiaomi 17 series shipped with HyperOS 3 out of the box, the update is now reaching older models.
